GREENPORT, NY — A glimpse out into Greenport's harbor nowadays can seem like a vision straight out of St. Tropez or Portofino, with luxury yachts dotting the horizon.

One yacht, the Quantum of Solace, has captured the attention and imagination of visitors and residents alike. According to BoatInternational.com, the 238-foot Quantum of Solace, launched in 2012 by Turquoise Yacht, is on the market for $58 million. The luxury yacht features a 16-foot swimming pool, cinema room, beach club area and a double-height atrium.

The majestic yacht has commanded the attention of many who've taken to social media to share photos and discuss what the presence of such mega-yachts means for Greenport, which has a long and rich maritime history and has now drawn the attention of international mariners, celebrities and long-time fishermen with deep ties to the village alike.

"My first thought was that it was beautiful," said Mike Fineberg, who snapped a photo of the Quantum of Solace. "My next thought was maybe there really is a need for redistribution of wealth."

Fineberg lives in Greenport: "But I only have a kayak and a paddle board."

Greenport has seen some famous names navigate their way to its shores recently: In July, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were reportedly spotted on their yacht in Greenport harbor, according to Hamptons.com.

When Mitchell Marina opened in 2004, the Greenport village board said the vision was that the facility would draw the same array of visitors who frequented destinations including Sag Harbor and Connecticut; the hope was that the marina would serve, as the carousel has, as an economic generator and way of bringing families to Greenport, where they could shop and spend time enjoying the village's eateries and other offerings.
