Boy, 12, Calls For Help From Sinking Boat On LI Sound: Police
There were seven passengers on the vessel, which was on the Long Island Sound when it began sinking, police say.

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A 12-year-old boy called for help Sunday when a boat he was on began to sink in the Long Island Sound, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 3:13 p.m. when bay constables responded to a call from the boy. The boat, operated by Fausto Mejia, 39, of Ridge, was located by marine units one mile northeast of Duck Pond Road in Cutchogue, police said.
All seven passengers aboard were removed from the sinking vessel and brought back to Mattituck Creek, police said. All seven were in good health and declined medical treatment, police said.

The vessel was towed back ashore by a marine towing company, police said.
