Courtside Play By Play Back At Greenport High

All eyes will be on Ahkee Anderson as he closes in on his 1000th high school basketball career point Friday.

GREENPORT, NY — Want to catch a game at Greenport High School but can't make it? No worries — courtside play by play returns to Greenport Friday with Southold Town Assessor Kevin Webster at the mic.

Webster returns to calling games for Porter basketball on a day when excitement is in the air: All eyes are on Ahkee Anderson as he closes in on his 1000th high school basketball career point. Ahkee has been an instrumental part of Porter varsity basketball in recent years, school officials said.

During his first two years in high school the Greenport junior racked up an impressive set of accomplishments. In his freshman year, 2016 to 2017, he was named All State-Second Team, All Conference, All Division, All League, and League VII Rookie of the Year. Similar accolades followed in his sophomore year, from 2017 to 2018, when he was named All State-First Team, All League, All Conference, All County, and League VII MVP.

And fans can watch Ahkee live, thanks to Webster. “The response to Mr. Webster and the professional look and feel of live streamed broadcasts of Porter basketball was outstanding,” Greenport Athletic Director Chris Golden said. "The reach of these broadcasts extended throughout the United States and even overseas as alumni had the opportunity to relive memories and check in on how student athletes of today are doing."

Webster said the experience is rewarding.

“I never imagined this would take off the way it has,” Webster said.

Superintendent of School David Gamberg added: "He really has quite a following, and that helps provide a great connection to our school."
