Drugged Cutchogue Driver Strikes Signs, Guard Rail, Leaves Scene: Police
BREAKING: The man was arrested after a 911 call reporting an erratic driver, police say.

RIVERSIDE, NY — A Cutchogue man driving on drugs crashed into road signs and a guard rail, then fled the scene, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, Travis J. Thompson, 35, of Cutchogue, was arrested Saturday at 10:48 a.m. after a 911 call in reference to an erratic driver on County Road 104, heading northbound near Ludlam Avenue in Riverside.
The caller reported that the vehicle had struck road signs and a guard rail in the area, police said.

Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle, a 1999 Ford pickup truck; police interviewed the driver, Thompson, and further investigation found that Thompson was operating the vehicle in an impaired condition, police said.
He was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a felony, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, second degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, circumvention of an ignition interlock device, a misdemeanor, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, second degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor, leaving the scene of an accident without reporting, an infraction, and multiple traffic infractions, police said.

Thompson was transported to police headquarters, held for morning arraignment, then arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court on Sunday morning and transported to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5000 bail, police said.
