SOUTHOLD, NY — An early morning fire ripped through a Southold storage facility Thursday, officials said.

According to the Southold Fire Department, the call came in at 3 a.m. on June 10 regarding a "fully engulfed storage building fire in close proximity to dwellings and the Sea Tow boat docks on Hobart Road."

Southold Fire Department Chief Peggy Killian told Patch that at first the call was believed to be a boat fire but when firefighters arrived at the scene they found a fully involved structure fire involving the building that backed up a neighbor's garage; the rear of the garage was lost, she said.
