Igloos Unveiled As Outdoor Dining Option On Shelter Island

SHELTER ISLAND, NY — The pandemic has led to new and innovative dining solutions across the East End: On Shelter Island, the Ram's Head Inn has unveiled five heated, outdoor dining igloos on the lawn to help keep hotel and restaurant guests warm.

The igloos come decked with baskets of blankets, heaters and twinkle lights, a release said; guests can snuggle up and enjoy views of Coecles Harbor while enjoying the Inn’s new menus and drink lists.

There is no added fee to reserve an igloo; al igloos can accommodate a minimum of four adult guests with a maximum capacity of eight, and may be reserved up to two hours, according to the Ram's Head Inn. Children are welcome but do not count towards the minimum of four guests needed to reserve.

Walk-in parties of any size and up to eight guests can be seated in any igloo not reserved for food or drinks.

The Inn uses an electrostatic sanitizing sprayer in between usages to ensure the experience is safe for all, the release said.

Dinner service is offered Thursdays to Mondays; lunch service from Fridays to Mondays, take-out during regular service hours, and Sunday brunch is also served.
