Man Charged With Felony DWI In Greenport: Police

He was pulled over after driving without headlights and found to be intoxicated, police say.

GREENPORT, NY — A Greenport man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated on Friday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 4:59 a.m. on Main Street in Greenport when David Amaya, 39, was stopped for driving without working headlights. Amaya was found to be intoxicated, police said.

Amaya was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation, and driving without a license and headlights, police said. He was charged with felony unlicensed operation due to a previous pending DWI charge, police said.

Amaya was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
