Man Crashes Into Store With 2 Kids In Car, Charged With DWI: Cops

GREENPORT, NY — A Wyandanch man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed into a Greenport store Saturday night with two children in the car, police said.

Edwin Parada Dominguez, 33, was arrested at 8:24 p.m. at Layvah, a convenience store located on Front Street, and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense; aggravated DWI with child/Leandra's Law, first offense; and endangering the welfare of a child, Southold Town Police said.

A Southold police officer was on patrol when he heard a loud crash; he responded to the location and found Parada Dominguez behind the wheel and crashed into the building with two children under the age of 15 in the vehicle, police said.

Parada Dominguez had the smell of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech and bloodshot eyes; he was also unsteady on his feet and failed roadside sobriety tests, police said.

Parada Dominguez was arrested and transported to Southold police headquarter for processing, police said.
