Mattituck High School Volleyball Player Named Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Emilie Reimer.

The SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport and Exercise announced on Tuesday that Emilie Reimer, a freshman at Mattituck High School and member of the girl’s volleyball tea, has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete of the Week.

Reimer, a middle hitter, led the Fighting Tigers to a season opening comeback 3-2 victory on Tuesday over Castleton State University by set scores of: 12-25, 19-25, 25-19, 25-8 and 15-12 in non-league action.

The rookie team was then named to the All-Tournament Team at the at the 2015 Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms College over the weekend despite the fact that Cobleskill dropped three matches at the event losing on Friday evening by to the Gators of Sage College 3-0 by set scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-19 then falling twice on Saturday starting off with a 3-1 loss to the host Blazers of Elms College by scores of 20-25, 26-24, 25-12 and 25-23 and then to the Owls of Westfield State College 3-1 by scores of 23-25, 25-14, 25-23 and 25-16 in the finale.

Reimer averaged: 1.56 kills, 1.50 digs and 0.69 total blocks per set in 16 sets played during the week as the team opened the season with a 1-3 overall record.

The Fighting Tiger will be traveling to Utica to play against the Pioneers of Utica College in non-league action on Wednesday starting at 7 p.m.
