Mosquito Spraying Scheduled for Wednesday

Marshes to be sprayed to control mosquito larvae.

Suffolk County Department of Public Works will be spraying for mosquitos in several parts of town Wednesday morning, officials announced.

Methoprene will be applied by a low-flying helicopter from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the following areas, and marshes in the areas will be treated as well:

  • New Suffolk
  • Great Hog Neck
  • Kerwin Boulevard
  • Pipes Neck Creek
  • Pipes Cove
According to the county, no preparation is necessary for the spraying, and "the products involved have no significant human toxicity."

Should spraying be delayed due to inclement weather, it will take place on the next suitable day.
