New NoFo MAGA-Meet-up Organizers: 'We Are Going to Rally Louder'

Although town officials had said political rallies can't take place on public property, the event went on as planned.

NORTH FORK, NY — As the rain fell, a new Trump rally took place on the North Fork Wednesday.

The "NoFo MAGA Meetup II" took place at Laurel Lakes Preserve.

"We are going to rally louder, and bigger than ever before on the North Fork," said Vinny Tirelli, who organized the first North Fork "mini-Maga" events, including a gathering last Wednesday at Triangle Park.

Tirelli and co-organizer Tommy McCaffery "are more cranked up more than we can tell you all. For two-and-a-half days notice for the last event, you all showed up in force and woke up this East End town. So we’re doing it again. Bigger and better," Tirelli said.

The crowd was smaller than in the past, likely due to the weather, but motorists driving by honked in support, Tirelli said.

Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell, however, said political events are not allowed on public property and added that he had notified Southold Town Police Chief Martin Flatley.

No town officials asked Tirelli or those gathered to leave, Tirelli ssaid.

After last week's North Fork event, Tirelli said he and McCaffery "are more cranked up than ever!" Tirelli said. "We met so many new friends and true patriots. This is the most important election in our history and we need to re-elect our great President! Like I said, people were being silent before but no more. The loud majority is here — and here to stay."

Tirelli organized a Trump parade on the North Fork and then announced he would organize a number of "NoFo MAGA Meetups."

Tirelli decided to provide a way for North Fork residents to be heard without having to travel o points west. He was inspired by "MAGA" events organized Shawn Farash, 29, of West Babylon, who has organized prior caravans, including a Trump parade on the North Fork and a Montauk event that drew thousands across Long Island; his events have gotten shout-outs from President Donald Trump.

Caravans have been rolling across Long Island recently to rally on different issues: On Sunday, an event to decry police brutality took place, with cars heading across Suffolk County to Greenport, where a candlelight vigil was held.
