New Shop, At Dawn, Opens At The Sound View In Greenport

NORTH FORK, NY — A new shop is set to open at the Sound View in Greenport just in time for the July 4 weekend.

At Dawn, the property's new retail and e-commerce shop, will launch on July 1, a release said.

In 2017, it was the dawn of a new day at the longtime North Fork mainstay, the Sound View in Greenport — when the restaurant reopened under a new name, The Halyard.

The Levin family, who owned the hotel and eatery for decades, sold the Sound View inn and restaurant in 2016; the business is now owned by Eagle Point Hotel Partners and was envisioned by Erik Warner.

In 2019, Stephan Bogardus, a popular local chef announced that he was leaving the North Fork Table & Inn after almost two years to take the helm at The Halyard.

The Sound View property, which includes 55 guest rooms with sweeping Sound views, also features Jack's Shack, a seasonal pool bar named after Levin's original concession stand, which opened in 1935; The Library, a private dining room; a piano bar; and now, the new shop, At Dawn — "which serves as a beachside outpost featuring rotating collaborations by local artists, and a highly curated collection of swimwear, accessories, home goods, wellness items, travel necessities and gifts," the release said.

The shop will be a "uniquely curated concept for travelers and locals to check out", featuring brands including Forest Bound, Found My Animal, Pineapple Collaborative, Nu Swim, Yield Design, and more, the release said.

Designed by Dawn Franchino, Kelly DeWitt ofKKDW, and Maria Thompson of Sugar Shed, the space is "light, natural, airy and calming, encapsulating the feelings of a coastal sense of place, and is largely comprised of sustainable and ethically made goods, women and BIPOC brands, and items made with the utmost care and detail, that will be treasured for years to come," the release said.

The Sound View is located at 58775 Route 48 in Greenport.
