North Fork Weekend Agenda: Live Music, Summer Arrives

Also this week, a short film fest at the Suffolk Theater, art show in Greenport and more.

A welcome change of pace, no rain is expected this weekend! Not only that, but summer officially arrives with the summer solstice. So take a look here to see where you can go out and about this weekend, and for more events – because there are a bunch of other events going on as well – check out our calendars on Riverhead Patch and North Fork Patch.

GREENPORT
• WPPB Art ShowThis fundraiser for Peconic Public Broadcasting will take place on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Mitchell Park.

PECONIC
• Live MusicOsprey's Dominion kicks off its 'Twilight on the Vines' series Friday night, when Sahara plays from 5 to 8 p.m.
• Winemaker for a Day: Sannino Bella Vita Vineyard will host a course on Sunday starting at noon. Couples get lunch, to learn about the life of a vinter and create their own custom bottle of wine for $150.

CUTCHOGUE
 
• Summer Celebration: Lieb Cellars is hosting its second anual Soak Up the Sun Party on Friday, the longest day of the year. Live music, meats, cheeses, wine and more – party starts at 6 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m.

MATTITUCK

• North Fork History DayBookHampton on Love Lane will be hosting Norman Wamback, former president of the Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society, as well as Gerard Motovcik, at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

RIVERHEAD

• Summertime in the Vineyard: The Fourth Annual celebration at Palmer Vineyard kicks off at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
• Live MusicVivian and the Merry Makers will be playing at Martha Clara Vineyard on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Cost of admission is $15.
• Music on Main StreetPapo Vazquez and His Mighty Pirates Troubadours – described as "Afro-Puerto Rican Jazz" – will perform Friday at the Suffolk Theater at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 to $45.
• Short FilmsNew York City's longest-running short film exhibition – Asbury Shorts – makes a stop at the Suffolk Theater on Saturday, showing 10 award-winning short films starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 to $25.
