Search For Missing Person Ends In Death Investigation: Cops
Police cars, a boat, and a helicopter were seen scouring the beach and the Long Island Sound for a missing person on the North Fork.
PECONIC, NY — Police officers scoured a North Fork beach Wednesday, looking for a missing person who was later reported dead, officials said.
Suffolk County Police reported Wednesday night that the homicide division said it was a non-criminal death investigation, and no additional information was immediately available.
A group of Southold Town Police and New York State Police were seen just after 10 a.m. at Goldsmith Inlet in Peconic, searching not just the beach — a Southold Town Police vessel was also out on the water and a helicopter was seen flying overhead.
