Texting in Courtroom Gets Greenport Man the Book
After repeated warnings to put down his phone, Allen P. Brown, Jr. is arrested for texting, police say.

Southold Town Police arrested a Greenport man for repeatedly talking on his phone and texting while in front of a judge at Southold Justice Court Friday morning.
According to police, while court was in session, Allen P. Brown, Jr., 23, was asked numerous times to stop talking on his cellphone, but he ignored the warnings. Shortly before noon, when it was his turn to appear before the judge, Brown began texting, police said.
An officer of the court placed Brown under arrest for disorderly conduct. Police said Brown then resisted when he was being placed in a holding area and was thus also charged with resisting arrest.
