SOUTHOLD, NY — A Southold gem is back after the pandemic as the Southold Historical Society Treasure Exchange readies to welcome shoppers back to the Treasure Exchange on Main Road.

The shop will open again on July 1.

"When the pandemic hit last spring, like all the other shops, the Treasure Exchange had to shutter its doors. The board of trustees decided that for the safety of the volunteers, the shop would remain closed until the effects of COVID-19 eased up," the Historical Society said.

The Museum's other locations will also reopen for the season.

Moving forward all of the shop's merchandise will be donated, so 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Museum. The Historical Society assured that the same array of gifts, including jewelry, collectibles, and art will be available — with a more modern approach taken.

“We are excited to reopen the shop and welcome back the smiling faces of shoppers," said Historical Society Executive Director Deanna Witte-Walker. "The hamlet has seen a resurgence of visitors, so now is the perfect time to invite them to support their local museum by shopping at the Treasure Exchange.”

Neighbors who are redecorating or cleaning out the kitchen cabinets are asked to consider donating gently-used treasures to the Treasure Exchange.

For a list of items sought, visit the Treasure Exchange page on the museum’s website.

The Treasure Exchange will be Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers are hoping to be able to open on some Sundays and possibly other weekdays, once the season is underway. Donations will be limited to two boxes and will be accepted on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
