Well-Known Artist Brings His Talents Back to North Fork
A new exhibit by artist Daniel Hauben opens Saturday at the Kapell Gallery in Greenport.
GREENPORT, NY — An artist who's found his heart captured by the sights and sounds of the North Fork will unveil a new exhibit, "From the Outside Looking In," this weekend.
The exhibit by artist Daniel Hauben will kick off with a reception Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kapell Gallery, located at 400 Front Street in Greenport.
"We are delighted to show Daniel Hauben’s work again at Kapell Gallery," said former Greenport Village Mayor David Kapell. "Following his successful show here in 2014, Danny has been smitten by the North Fork bug and, through an artist-in-residency at East End Arts, embarked on paintings of local subjects."

Hauben has become a familiar sight down at the Greenport waterfront, spending hours on his works of art that capture the essence of the village.
"The work brings a fresh perspective to the beauty and culture of our region that often only an outsider can offer," Kapell said. "The result is stunning and we are excited to share it with you at the opening reception."

The reception will also feature local food and wine; all are welcome.
Hauben's first show in Greenport, "No Place Like Home," in 2014, brought out a crowd to admire his streetscapes and pastel landscapes.
Hauben also has created public art projects in New York and the Bronx; exhibits of his work can be found at the White House, Library of Congress, Museum of the City of NY, New York Historical Society, and Harvard University.
The artist has had more than 30 exhibitions, both national and international. He's also taught at the Art Student’s League and the CUNY Graduate Center, and brings his talents to students at the CCNY Spitzer School of Architecture and the Riverdale YM/YWHA.
The exhibit will run from August 20 through Sept. 25.
