Woman Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Telephone Pole: Police

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A Southold woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after she crashed into a telephone pole, drove down an embankment, and rolled into marshland early Sunday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the crash took place at 2:22 a.m. on Skunk Lane. Susan Hepensteil, 51, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, police said.

Hepensteil was arrested and transported to Eastern Long Island hospital for medical treatment; once released from the hospital, Hepensteil was transported to Southold Police headquarters, processed, and held for arraignment, police said.
