Woman Charged In DWI Crash; Passenger Spits At Officer: Police
The crash took place early Monday in Southold, police say.
SOUTHOLD, NY —A woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after a Southold crash — and her passenger spit in a police officer's face, authorities said.
According to Southold Town Police, the single-vehicle crash took place at 12:28 a.m. Monday on Tuckers Lane and Route 25 in Southold. The driver fled the scene and was located at the gas station on Main Bayview Road, police said.
Stephanie Caicedo, 25, of Orient, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 of 1 percent, first offense; DWI, first offense; driving without a license; and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, police said. She was transported to Southold police headquarters and held for arraignment, police said.

During the investigation, Jesus Mendoza, 25, of Greenport Villa, the passenger, interfered numerous times and spit in the officer's face, police said. Mendoza resisted arrest and had to be subdued by officers, police said.
He was ultimately arrested and charged with second-degree harassment; obstructing governmental administration; and resisting arrest, police said. He was also taken to police headquarters, where he was released on an appearance ticket for a future court date, police said.
