2021 Troop 410 Polar Bear Swim - Canceled

The annual Troop 410 Polar Bear Swim – usually held on New Year's Day every year – has been CANCELED

Dear Members of the Greater Northport Community,

It breaks our hearts, but we must confirm that we are unable to hold our annual New Year’s Day Polar Bear Swim this January 1st as per tradition. This community event has been a holiday custom brought to you by the Scouts of Troop 410 for more than a decade, and has raised over $60,000 in support of Northport’s ELC Food Pantry. Safety precautions brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic dictate that we not bring large crowds together at this time to jump in the bay and huddle together around our bonfire & in our warming tents.

It is our sincerest hope and current plan to be able to reschedule this event on one of the weekends around St Patrick’s Day. The state of the pandemic will dictate our ability to do so, and we will update the community with our plans as they solidify.

Unfortunately, it is this same pandemic that is causing a spike of food insecurity within our community that continues to put pressure on the food pantry, thus creating a greater need for the funds we traditionally raise. The irony of the situation is not lost on us, and we implore you to continue to support your neighbors within the greater Northport - East Northport community by continuing to support the ELC Food Pantry with your donations. To that end, you can donate by clicking on the “Donate” button on Troop 410’s Polar Bear Swim Website - http://troop410swim.com/#donat... or you can contact the food pantry directly at elcfoodpantry@gmail.com or (631) 261-4357.

We wish to thank the members of our community and our businesses who continue to sponsor and support Troop 410’s Polar Bear Swim and the ELC Food Pantry. Keep the faith, be smart and stay safe!
