Another Video of a Humpback Whale Enjoying Long Island Sound Waters
A fishing boat happily discarded their fishing plans to safely follow the whales around.

Are you sick of hearing about humpback whales yet? Neither are we.
The fishing boat, James Joseph II, discarded their fishing plans and decided to safely follow around three humpback whales in the Long Island Sound on Saturday, Sept. 19.
The humpback whales, two adults and one juvenile, were seen enjoying themselves at approximately 12:30 p.m.

About 43 people out of the 44 passengers happily went along for the ride, Captain James Schneider told Patch.
Schneider told Patch more details about the whale sighting: “We were in the between Eaton’s Neck and Norwalk on our way back from out east when we came across the wales.”

The Long Island Sound was about 160 feet deep in that area, Schneider said.
James Joseph Fishing is a fishing service out of Huntington that brings residents out to the Long Island Sound to enjoy a day at sea.

Humpback whales are one of the most commonly seen whales in New York waters despite them being one of the most endangered of the large whales, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation reports.
There are only about 2,000 to 4,000 humpback whales left in the western North Atlantic, according to the DEC.
