On March 4, students at Elwood Middle School had the opportunity meet and hear a presentation from New York Times best-selling author Gordon Korman.
During the visit, Gordon led three 45-minute group presentations where he discussed how he wrote and published his first novel, “This Can’t Be Happening at MacDonald Hall,” at 14 years old. In addition, he shared the in-depth book writing and publishing process, which includes brainstorming, developing characters, dialogue, rewriting and revision. With more than 75 published books, Gordon credits his love for humor to be one of the greatest inspirations for his work.
Following the last group presentation, a select group of students who received special admission tickets gathered in the school’s library for a meet the author and book signing session. During the session, Gordon shared more about his experience as a writer, answered questions and autographed copies of his books.
