Bird Trapped in String Rescued by Marine Bureau Officers in Northport
Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers to the rescue!
A bird tangled in string was set free by Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers in Northport on Sunday morning.
Officer Michael O’Leary distracted the bird with a wildlife pole while officer Charles Marchiselli covered the bird with a blanket and cut the string to set the bird free at 11:15 a.m., police said.
Officers first noticed the unlucky bird entangled along the railing of the National Grid Northport Platform, located two miles north of the Northport Power Station, while they were conducting a Homeland Security check of the platform.

The bird, who did not look like it was injured, swam away once it was freed.
