Polar Bear Plunge
On New Year's Day, Boy Scout Troop 410 will hold its fifth annual Polar Bear Swim, a fundraiser, in which swimmers will dive into the chilly water at Steers Beach on Eaton’s Neck Road, to benefit the Northport Food Pantry. The swim will take place Jan. 1 at noon. Swimmers are invited to join and collect as many sponsors as possible at $5 each.
New Year's Eve Parties at Larkfield Manor
Larkfield Manor in East Northport is holding two New Year's Eve parties Dec. 31. The first is a Greek-themed party from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. with an open bar, cocktail hour, dinner, dessert and entertainment by Power Station Orchestra. The second party goes from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. and features a cocktail hour, dinner, champagne toast and dessert. For pricing and to reserve a table, call (631) 368-4422.
Opera Night
Start out the new year with a dose of culture Friday during Opera Night at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church (270 Main St., Northport). The sho starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.Â
