East Northport 4th Grader Helping Heifer Foundation Buy A Goat
Purchasing a goat for a family around the world can help them create a sustainable income. A fourth-grader is using his creativity to help.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — James Siragusa, a fourth-grader at Pulaski Road School, is using his creativity for a good cause, according to the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District.
James, a member of the school's "Students Helping and Relating to Each Other" (SHARE) club, created a trifold flyer to explain the goals of the club’s plan to purchase a goat for the Heifer Foundation. The foundation's mission is to help end hunger and poverty, according to its website.
The SHARE club joined with the Heifer Foundation to support fellow students who suffer from poverty and hunger by raising money for a goat. Purchasing a goat for a family around the world can help it create a sustainable income.

James created a trifold flyer outlining the goals of the initiative. He also created a joke book comprised of student-submitted jokes, which he is selling for 50 cents. Profits will go towards purchasing the goat.
The club is led by elementary counselor James Durand and fifth-grade teacher David
Kaiser.

Durand described James as "a wonderful student who works really hard."
"This initiative could have a big impact on a family, and it's great to see a student finding creative ways to make it successful," Durand said via a news release.
