EAST NORTHPORT, NY — An East Northport man who suffers from dementia went missing on Sunday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

William Palmer, 58, a resident of the Birchwood Suites Assisted Living Facility, at 423 Clay Pitts Road, was last seen at the Northport Long Island Rail Road station around 2 p.m. Sunday, according to police. Detectives believe he boarded a westbound train.
Palmer is white, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing jeans, a black zip-up sweater, gray sneakers with orange bottoms and a blue baseball cap.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on Palmer’s location to call 911 or the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
Silver Alert is a program in Suffolk County allowing law enforcement to share information with media outlets about people with special needs who have been reported missing.
