East Northport Residents Fundraising To Light Up Community
The East Northport Chamber of Commerce wasn't able to secure funding for holiday lights this year. Residents are pitching in via GoFundMe.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — East Northport residents are doing whatever they can to ensure their community is as cheerful as possible during the holidays.
The East Northport Chamber of Commerce was unable to secure funding for holiday lights this season due to the lack of fundraising opportunities as a result of social distancing protocols brought by the coronavirus pandemic. Debbie Brazier, a resident and member of the East Northport Moms Group on Facebook, launched a GoFundMe to raise money towards decorating Larkfield Road.
The lights cost $20,000 to rent for the season, though Brazier is hoping to raise $8,000. As of Wednesday afternoon, $2,075 has been donated.

The funds would allow the community to have wreaths on each of the light posts along Larkfield Road and cover a year's worth of storage costs, according to Brazier. Wreaths would not need to be paid for again in the future.
"Any amount that you can spare to donate is greatly appreciated," Brazier wrote on the GoFundMe.
