Eaton's Neck Beach Closed To Bathing

High levels of bacteria were found at Valley Grove Beach, officials say.

EATON'S NECK, NY — Valley Grove Beach in Eaton's Neck has closed to bathing due to high levels of bacteria being found, Suffolk County health officials said Thursday.

According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Gregson Pigott, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose and throat.

The Town of Huntington-located beach will reopen when further testing finds that the bacteria have lowered to acceptable levels.
