Glenn Seniors Named in National Merit Scholarship Program

Six seniors place in the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who took the 2014 pre-SAT.

Six students from the Elwood School District have been named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Seniors Danielle Fisenne, Angelina Gabrielli, Ryan Harrigan, Gillian Murphy, Esther Pak and Jinwoo Park were awarded the honor.

To earn the distinction, the John Glenn High School students placed among the top 5 percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2014 competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

“This recognition if the direct result of the hard work and commitment to education demonstrated by these fine students,” Principal Vincent Mulieri said in a press release. “They, along with the members of their family and Elwood staff who support their learning, are truly deserving of this honor.”
