The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for the region:

A backdoor cold front moving across the area this afternoon into early this evening will result in numerous showers and thunderstorms across the area. There is the potential for localized flash flooding across the entire area with the greatest threat north and west of the NYC metro. Additionally, the Storm Prediction Center has placed the Lower Hudson Valley, Northeast New Jersey, southwest Connecticut, and far western Long Island under a marginal risk for severe weather. The main threat is damaging wind gusts.

Friday- Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 2pm and 4pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. North wind around 7 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday Night- A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Northeast wind around 7 mph.

Independence Day- Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 82. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph.

Saturday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Sunday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 3 to 7 mph.

Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 69.

Monday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 86.

Monday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 70.

Tuesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
