Keith Brown 'Truly Humbled' By 12th NYS Assembly District Win
Keith Brown, a Republican who won election to the state assembly, stated how he plans to spend the weeks before he assumes the role.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Republican Keith Brown won election to the New York 12th Assembly District, defeating Democrat challenger Michael Marcantonio with 35,190 votes to 33,027. Brown will fill the seat left vacant by Republican Andrew Raia's transition to the Huntington town clerk position.
"I am truly humbled by the families in my District, and I am proud of all the support from my friends and family and the hard work from everyone on our team," Brown stated via a news release. "I said early on in the race that I would not be outworked. I told my three boys ... that anything worthwhile is hard and takes a lot of work."
Brown is slated to begin his term Jan. 6, 2021. He shared his excitement to report the 12th district in Albany.

"Since 1990, when I worked for NYS Senator Norman Levy, I dreamt of someday being a State Legislator," Brown said. "I cannot wait to apply my knowledge and experience as a public servant toward helping people and making Long Island and NYS a better place. I have been working since I was 14 years old, and I plan to bring that same energy level and work ethic to Albany."
Brown will be representing Northport, East Northport, Centerport, Eaton's Neck, Asharoken and portions of Fort Salonga, Halesite, Greenlawn, Commack, Elwood, Dix Hills, Deer Park, and North Bay Shore.

He thanked Marcantonio and his opponent's campaign for a hard-fought race. Marcantonio conceded late November.
Brown laid out his plans before his term begins. Over the next seven weeks, he intends to meet with law enforcement; firefighters and first responders; the chiefs of all the fire departments in the 12th district; and the superintendents of all school districts. The soon-to-be assemblyman is planning a Zoom call with the chambers of commerce representing Huntington, Melville, East Northport, Northport, Deer Park and West Islip, as well as all the heads of the state agencies.
Brown is also planning to schedule a call with the Touro Land Institute on Water Quality to address how to clean the Long Island Sound.
"To the men and women of law enforcement, I say thank you for all you do to keep our communities safe," Brown said. "I would also thank the Suffolk County Association of Municipal Employees, the League of Conservation Voters, Local 138 Operating Engineers, and Local 1490 Electrical Workers for their support. I also want to thank my family, my wife Barbara, and my three boys for their unwavering support. Finally, to the voters of the 12th Assembly District, I want to say thank you and it will be an honor and privilege to represent you. I will work hard to make you all proud! My sincerest gratitude to all!"
