Lidl Announces New Store Will Open In East Northport
The supermarket chain plans to open its ninth Long Island location by this summer.
East Northport, NY — Lidl Us announced Friday that they will open their ninth Long Island location this summer in East Northport. The supermarket chain will renovate the current Best Market located at 56 Larkfield Road.
The grocery chain issued a press release from their Arlington, VA, headquarters outlining plans for additional expansion on Long Island. The current Lidl stores are in West Babylon, East Meadow, Oakdale, Patchogue, Lake Grove, Plainview, Huntington, and Center Moriches. The company says they plan to open 50 locations in the next few years on the island.
“We are encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive reviews we have already received from shoppers at Lidl stores across Long Island,” Johannes Fieber, President & CEO of Lidl US said in the release.

“Our teams are excited to deliver huge savings for residents in East Northport in terms of price and time. Like our other stores, they will experience fresh choices, convenient shopping and big savings.”
The chain is known for competitive pricing and progressive employee treatment. Lidl stated last fall that all employees working at the new stores in Nassau and Suffolk counties will receive full medical benefits regardless of the number of hours they work per week, including part time workers. Lidl also raised the starting minimum wage for store associates working on Long Island to $15 per hour, $2 more per hour than the requirement.

“We look forward to Lidl opening in East Northport this summer. I attended the Huntington Station store opening in December and saw firsthand their commitment to employees and the community,” said Town of Huntington Supervisor Chad Lupinacci. “Lidl will continue to provide Long Islanders with quality jobs and great groceries.”
The East Northport location will feature a fresh bakery at the entrance and a range of both imported and domestic food. The stores are also designed to be environmentally friendly, according to the company.
