Lidl Announces Ribbon Cutting For East Northport Store
The German supermarket will celebrate the opening of its seventh store on Long Island next week. Here's what residents should know.

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — Lidl is set to celebrate its grand opening in East Northport. The German supermarket is scheduled to hold a ribbon cutting at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday at its remodeled 560 Larkfield Road digs.
The majority of the new Lidl's products are sourced in the United States, though European specialty items will be offered, including rare cheeses, specialty sauces, cured meats, and more. Shoppers are entitled to a refund and replacement if they don't like certain products.
The chain also offers a revolving selection of food and non-food specials brought in each Wednesday for a limited time. The rotating non-food selection will include fitness gear, small kitchen appliances, toys, outdoor furniture, and more.

"We are thrilled to welcome Lidl to East Northport," Suffolk County Legislator Susan A. Berland said via Lidl's news release. "Lidl’s expansion into Long Island has brought a wonderful choice in grocery shopping to our area. I wish the new location tremendous success and look forward to the grand opening."
The opening of the grocery store will mark the chain's seventh Long Island location. The starting wage at Lidl is $15 per hour, according to a news release. All employees also get comprehensive medical benefits.

Town of Huntington Supervisor Chad Lupinacci said having another Lidl in the township is "welcome news."
"New stores offer consumers more choices, and they create new jobs," Lupinacci said. "I wish Lidl the best of luck and much success."

During its grand opening, Lidl will donate 50 cents to the John Theissen Children’s Foundation for every new "myLidl" member who signs up and sets East Northport as their home store. The money will go to Long Island children in need.
The new Lidl will also offer grand opening specials, including:
- The first 100 customers will be presented with a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each.
- A selfie social media competition outside of the store for a chance to win a $250 prize.
- A Lidl food truck sampling snacks and juice.
