
Lucille Lurye, 87, of Warwick and formerly of East Northport, NY, died Jan. 8.
According to her obituary, Lurye was born Oct. 8, 1926 in New York City. She was the only child of the late Irving and Bell (Fleisig) Rabinowitz. She was married to the late Philip Lurye (1996).
Lurye served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a civilian in coding, her family wrote. She was a devoted homemaker, know as “Mama Lu” to many, her family wrote. Lurye loved animals, music, cooking and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Dempster & her husband David of Warwick, NY; her son, Richard Lurye & his wife Diane of Rockville, MD; her daughter, Seleste Wallace and her husband Nelson of Poughkeepsie, NY; her son Garth Lurye & his wife Mary Beth of Amity Harbor, NY; five grandchildren: Benjamin, Rebecca, Sarah, Nelson and Harrison.
Lurye was buried at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY. Memorial donations may be made to Warwick Valley Humane Society, 48 Public Works Road, Warwick, NY 10990.
