Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Diva
Diva, a 12-year-old female cat, found herself without a home after her mom and dad died. Here's how you can adopt her.

NORTHPORT, NY — Diva, a 12-year-old female cat, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week.
She gets along with other cats, dogs, children and adults, and she loves to be pet. She also enjoys cuddling and spending time with people, as evidenced by the fact she does not like to be alone, Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue, wrote in an email. Diva's unwillingness to be alone may have to do with why she was brought to the cat rescue to begin with, Wild said.
"Diva was loved in her previous home so much and lived a wonderful life with her Mom and Dad," Wild said. "Sadly, they both passed away and poor Diva was basically on her own for months, except for daily visits from family members to check on her and make sure she was safe until they were able to find her a new home. This can be incredibly stressful for a cat that thrives so much on companionship, and Diva is clearly this kind of cat. Cats are all too aware of their reality and they experience the loss of a loved one, and the anxiety of what the future will bring, no different than people."

Diva's father died in December, and her mother sometime before that, Wild said.
When members of the cat rescue visited Diva in the home where she had lived for years, Diva came right up to them with gentle meows and welcomed petting sessions.

"While the humans were discussing her faith, Seher Sen, an NCRA director, later shared that she spied Diva sitting with her back to us, looking around her home," Wild wrote. "She sensed that she knew she was leaving the place where she had spent many loving years and taking it all in one last time. She went with us eagerly, as it seemed she had accepted her loving parents were gone forever, and it was time for her to move on.
"Diva trusted we were going to take great care of her and that we will find her a safe and loving home to live out her life. That is exactly what we will do."
Diva is spayed, has all her shots, is litter box trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
