Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Liberty
Liberty, a 3-year-old male whose mom fell ill, is the Northport Pet of the Week. Here's how you can adopt him.

NORTHPORT, NY — Liberty, a 3-year-old male silver tabby, was named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Pet of the Week.
"Liberty, with his gorgeous green eyes, has had some rough beginnings," Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue, told Patch. "His mom fell ill and was unable to care for him properly, and Liberty was fending for himself for quite some time. Northport Cat Rescue took in Liberty, and although he was frightened, we could tell all he needed was some patience and love to come around."
Liberty went into foster care, where his personality has shone through and his fears are slowly slipping away, according to Wild. He loves to play and explore his foster home, where other cats also live. Liberty has proven to get along with them.

"He wants nothing more than to sit next to you while you rub his head and scratch his back," Wild said. "He will follow his humans around, timidly, but seeking affection, looking for someone to cuddle him. He will sneak into the children’s room that he is being fostered with and will curl up for a safe night’s sleep.
"His foster mom said it has been a complete joy to watch this precious boy come out of his shell and finally feel safe and sound," Wild continued. "He will be a wonderful companion to any home that is willing to give him a chance."
