Northport Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Socks
Socks, a 12-year-old male tuxedo, finds himself up for adoption after both his parents died. Here's how you can make him yours.

NORTHPORT, NY — Socks, a 12-year-old male tuxedo, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week.
"Socks never thought he would find himself alone," Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue, wrote in an email. "He had lived his entire life with tons of love and comforts with his Mom and Dad. Sadly, his mommy died, and within 3 months, his dad had passed as well."
Socks found himself alone for months in the home he once shared with his parents, according to Wild. Some family members visited to make sure Socks had food, but the extended family was not able to provide him with a home. However, they reached out to Northport Cat Rescue Association for help.

"Socks is very friendly and vocal," Wild said. "He was very lonely when his parents passed away, and being that Socks loves companionship, he must have felt very isolated. The first night in foster care he cried the entire night. Even though he was uncertain what was happening, his need for affection overcame him, and all he wants is to be next to you and be pet. He headbutts your chin for kisses and lets you pick him up for some cuddles."
Socks is a senior cat, though he is in very good health, Wild said. He has a healthy appetite and likes to play. He loves his scratch post and staring out the window.

"He is a special guy and according to his parent’s family, he bought them so much joy and smiles," Wild said. "Socks did nothing wrong, and we want to make sure he knows that by doing right by him and finding him a home where he will be safe and loved forever."
Socks is neutered, has all his shots, is litter box trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
