NORTHPORT, NY — Bam Bam and Pebbles are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

The two felines were rescued together from a hoarding situation, as they were found in a home with more than 50 cats, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer at the cat rescue.

Bam Bam is a male 7-month-old long-haired orange tabby with a fluffy tail.

"While in foster care, no longer having to fend for himself, this little nugget quickly learned how to be the curious and playful toddler that he was meant to be," Wild wrote in an email. "He enjoys playing with his toys nonstop, sniffing his foster mom's toes, and carrying small objects in his mouth. He adores a snuggly petting session when he is worn out and will gladly cuddle in your arms. He is simply fabulous."

Pebbles, a 2-year-old female calico, is the timider of the duo, according to Wild.

"She spent more time in the hoarder home, and therefore was neglected much longer than Bam Bam," Wild said. "She is shy, and her first several days in foster care she would only look down at the ground, never making eye contact. She has since started gazing into your eyes, with hope. She is sweet but still needs time to learn to trust. Bam Bam does help her with that, and we know in time with the right family, she will come out of her shell and flourish."

The two depend on each other for comfort, Wild said. The cat rescue would like to see Bam Bam and Pebbles adopted together.

"Their adopters should be willing to spend a lot of time with them to develop a trusting and loving relationship, in a home where they will never have to fight to survive again," Wild said.

Both cats are neutered/spayed, have all their shots, are litter box trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
