NORTHPORT, NY — Link and Bubbs, a pair of 11-month-old brothers, were named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cats of the Week.

The brothers were found as strays on the streets of Dix Hills, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue.

"They were way too sweet to leave them and were taken into NCRA rescue," Wild told Patch via email. "The first few days in the rescue were during the last snowstorm, and they were so relaxed, appreciative to finally be warm and safe."

Link has an "exotic look" to him with his green eyes, Wild said. He is used to having to fend for himself on the streets, so he is still a bit independent and cautious.

"His eyes tell you a story, and you can tell he wants to trust as he leans in for some head scratches but just needs someone to give him a chance and be patient," Wild said.

Bubbs has silky black fur and, like his brother, gorgeous green eyes. He loves attention and belly rubs. He looks so at peace when he's relaxing, Wild said.

"Both boys are very playful, love toys and catnip, and have just recently discovered the comforts of a snuggly couch and seem to never want to get up from it," Wild said. "Although they can be adopted into separate homes, we believe their new families should not have young children, since they are still a bit nervous and will need time to be assured that they are safe. We know these courageous boys will build confidence and will be a great addition to the right home."

Both are neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.

To meet Link or Bubbs, or any of the association's other kittens and cats, head to its Northport Cat Rescue website and fill out an application to let them know you'd like to meet them or any other cats. You can also fax an application to 631-651-5597 or call NCRA at 631-606-2631.
