NORTHPORT, NY — Sunflower and Buttercup, a pair of 4-month-old bonded sisters, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's first featured cats of 2021.

Sunflower is just like her name: a little fluffy ball of sunshine, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue. If she sees someone laying on the couch with a cozy blanket, she will never pass up the opportunity to join them.

Buttercup is the more reserved of the two, Wild said. She will wait until Sunflower is done with her cuddle session, but she'll jump in after.

"These two loves are very entertaining wrestling, playing, and snuggling," Wild said. "They are currently being fostered with other cats and get along beautifully and are often found mushing with them too!"

While Sunflower and Buttercup love each other, they love people just the same, Wild said.

"They will push on the door to open it to get into any room that their humans are in," Wild said. "They love the comfort of knowing they are not alone. We would love to see these two girls be adopted into a loving family, where they can grow up and stay together always."

They are both spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.

To meet Sunflower or Buttercup, or any of the association's other kittens and cats, head to its Northport Cat Rescue website and fill out an application to let them know you'd like to meet them or any other cats. You can also fax an application to 631-651-5597 or call NCRA at 631-606-2631.
