Northport Business Students Place In DECA Competition

Forty-two NHS students qualified to compete at the state level.

On Jan. 3, 68 Northport High School business students competed in the Suffolk County Regional DECA Competition at Suffolk County Community College. While more than 1,000 students from Suffolk County participated in this regional competition, 42 NHS students qualified to compete at the state level. These outstanding business students will travel to Rochester in March to compete at the State Competition:

First Place Winners:

  • Mike Calobrisi and Ted Kavanagh - Entrepreneurship Team Decision Making
  • Liam McKenna - Principles of Business Management & Administration
  • Second Place winners:

  • Jack Tomczyk and Alex Freedman - Entrepreneurship Team Decision Making

Third Place winners:

  • Tage Oster- Human Resources Management
