Northport Coming Of Age Story: Book Signing
Meet the author of "Murder on Lewis Road and Other Stories Growing Up Northport," a book delving into life in Northport in the 1960s.

NORTHPORT, NY — The Northport Historical Society is scheduled to host a special book signing of John Terry’s "Murder on Lewis Road and Other Stories Growing Up Northport" on Saturday, Jan. 11 from noon to 2 p.m. in its Museum building at 215 Main St., Northport Village, it announced.
Terry is one of seven siblings from a large Irish Catholic family who grew up in 1960s Northport Village — a place where, along with a murder, was also home to "crazy relatives, wonderful family friends, scary neighbors, a midget and a spider monkey." His "Murder on Lewis Road and Other Stories Growing Up Northport" is part love letter, part coming-of-age story, and a cultural reflection of life in Northport during the turbulent 60s, the society said.
Terry was born in 1957 and is the self-appointed historian of the Terry family, whose deep roots in Northport go back more than 200 years. His family moved from Northport to Andover, MA just as Terry was entering high school. His memoir is self-published through Outskirts Press, Inc.
