NORTHPORT, NY — The Northport High School badminton team is the best in Suffolk County.

The squad won its first county championship by vanquishing the previously undefeated Half Hollow Hills team 5-4, according to the school district.

Coach Craig Stanton described the win as a "storybook ending," after the team had previously lost only one game during the season to the same team it defeated in the championship.
