Northport High School Junior Awarded Rensselaer Medal

The medal awards a $30,000 per year scholarship to attend the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York.

NORTHPORT, NY — Patrick Sweeney, a junior at Northport High School, was awarded the Rensselaer Medal, according to a news release from the Northport-East Northport School District.

The medal awards one student a $30,000 per year scholarship to attend the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. Patrick will now have the option to attend the Institute if he chooses, the district stated.

The scholarship is awarded each year to one student in any high school who shows significant strength in mathematics and science. Rensselaer is the oldest technological institution in North America.
