Northport PD Blotter: Man And Liquor Store Owner Argue Over Mask
The man began yelling and cursing when the liquor store owner asked him to wear a mask in the shop, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from April 12 through April 18.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A dead deer was found in the middle of Ocean Avenue on April 12. The highway department was asked to remove it.
- A man refused to wear a mask at Northport Liquors & Wines on April 12. The business owner told police that the customer became "irate" when he was asked to wear a mask. The owner said the man started yelling and cursing. The man left the store without further incident.
- A man was following a woman on Woodbine Avenue, she told police. The woman told police the man was following her and asking her about her dog. She ran away to her home. The incident happened April 12.
- A man fainted at Northport Yacht Club on April 14. Northport Rescue brought him to St. Catherine's Hospital.
- A man reported a case of New York state unemployment fraud on April 15. He said after he filed for unemployment in April 2020, he received a direct deposit payment of $5,238 from the Department of Labor in December. He said he was due to receive an additional $9,094. The man told police the $9,094 was sent in the form of a KeyBank debit card to an unknown address in Brooklyn and used by someone he didn't know. The man said he hasn't been told of any unauthorized charges or withdrawals to any of his accounts, and that he reached out to the Department of Labor to resolve the issue.
- A woman reported on April 16 that her employer received a state unemployment benefits claim even though she did not apply for one. The woman, at the time of her report, has not suffered any financial loss. She told police she would put a hold on her credit and contact the IRS fraud department.
- A woman told police on April 16 that someone tried to file for unemployment under her name.
- Police responded to Veronica Rayne LLC for a report of a "belligerent" man on April 16. An officer told him not to smoke so close to the storefront's door, to which he agreed.
- A woman fainted at Yogurt Fancy on April 16. Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hosptial.
- Two people were walking on Northport Village Dock on April 16, which was closed for repairs. They admitted to police they knew the dock was closed and that they made a mistake. Police warned and admonished the duo.
- A man who fell and got hurt at Northport Yacht Club was brought to Huntington Hospital on April 17.
- A woman on April 17 reported a case of identity fraud. She said her employer received a state unemployment benefits claim even though she did not apply for one. The woman, at the time of her report, has not suffered any financial loss. She told police she would put a hold on her credit and contact the IRS fraud department.
- A woman on April 17 reported unauthorized charges on her Chase card. Chase Bank contacted her about the pending charges, and the bank was able to freeze the charges and cancel the card. The woman did not suffer any financial loss.
