Northport PD Blotter: Man W/ Suspended License Had Cocaine In Car

ALSO: Police officers were called on a boy and his friends who were being too loud while playing video games in a house, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Jan. 25 through Jan. 31.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Steven Fallica, 60, of Holtsville, was driving a 2001 Mercury when he crossed over the double-yellow line of Fort Salonga Road around 4:10 a.m. Jan. 28, police said. The officer who pulled over Fallica saw a silver pipe commonly used for smoking crack cocaine on the floor of the passenger seat, police said. The officer found a small pill case next to the driver's seat which
    contained a white crack cocaine rock, police said. Fallica was also driving with a suspended license, police said. Fallica was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and unsafe lane change.

Incidents

  • Police were called on a group of youths smoking marijuana on Cherry Street. The officer told the resident to not smoke marijuana, to which he agreed. The incident happened Jan. 26.
  • A table was damaged by someone outside Ocean Avenue Elementary School. The criminal mischief incident was reported Jan. 26.
  • Two vehicles were doing doughnuts in the Steers Beach parking lot on Jan. 26. The two young drivers were warned and admonished by police, who told them to leave the area. No property was damaged.
  • A possibly-sick possum was reported on Goldenrod Avenue on Jan. 27. The animal was determined not to be sick, so it was relocated to a wooded area.
  • A possibly-sick raccoon was reported at Lewis Oliver Dairy on Jan. 27. The animal was determined not to be sick.
  • A sick raccoon was reported on Burr Avenue on Jan. 27. The raccoon was showing clear signs of distemper, leading police to euthanize it.
  • A lost or stolen plate found on Lewis Road was handed into the police department on Jan. 27.
  • A group of youths was reportedly screaming and being loud at the Woodbine Marina Lot at 10 p.m. Jan. 27. A girl who was playing loud music from her vehicle was warned and admonished.
  • Police responded to Cherry Street for a report of yelling and banging on walls at 1 p.m. Jan. 30. A boy said he and his friends were playing video games and jumping up and down. He told the officer they would stop yelling and jumping. The mother came home and asked everyone to leave the house. She told police that this was the second time her son has had people at the house without her permission. She was advised to call 911 if she needed help in the future.
  • An attempted identity theft was reported on Jan. 30. A woman said her employer contacted her to let her know a letter for unemployment benefits was received at her job even though she was still employed. The woman said she already contacted the major credit bureaus as well as her credit card companies and banks to monitor her credit and watch for fraudulent charges. As of Jan. 30, the woman has not sustained monetary loss, and there have been no fraudulent charges.
  • A female yellow lab mixed-breed dog was found by police on Jan. 30. The Huntington dog warden picked up the dog.
  • Two females were reported unconscious from an alcohol overdose on Church Street around 9:10 p.m. Jan. 30. When police arrived, one girl was unresponsive and breathing, while the other was alert and vomiting. Northport Rescue took both girls to Huntington Hospital.
  • A dog got loose on Steers Avenue around 9 a.m. Jan. 31. Police could not find the dog.
  • A woman received a notice from the New York Department of Labor that someone attempted to file for unemployment benefits under her deceased husband's identity. An officer read the letter and told her that it appeared to be a real letter, and that she did not have to do anything on her end with the department of labor. She wanted the incident documented for informational purposes. The officer told her to notify her banks and credit to protect herself. The incident was reported Jan. 31.
