Northport Police Blotter: 2 Drunken Drivers Arrested
One man was using a cell phone while driving drunk, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Dec. 14 through Dec. 20.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Alex Reyes, 29, of Huntington Station, was driving a 2013 Dodge westbound on Fort Salonga Road when an officer saw him swerving out of his lane at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 18, police said. Reyes' breath smelled of alcohol, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, his speech was slurred, he was very unsteady on his feet, and he performed poorly on several standardized field sobriety tests, police said. He also refused to take a breath test, police said. Reyes was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation: refused chemical test, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, driver's view obstructed, unsafe lane change, operating unregistered motor vehicle on highway, and driving while intoxicated (an E felony).
- Ralph Habib, 48, of Northport, was driving a 2016 Suburu northbound on Reservoir Avenue at 11 p.m. Dec. 18, police said. An officer saw Habib using a cellphone and driving, police said. Once Habib was pulled over, an officer noticed Habib's breath smelled of alcohol, his eyes were
glassy and bloodshot, his speech was slurred and sluggish, he was very unsteady on his feet and he performed poorly on several standardized field sobriety tests, police said. Habib refused to take a breath test, police said. Habib was arrested and charged with refuse pre-screen test, driving while intoxicated, and use of mobile telephone.
Incidents
- There was a reported hit-and-run crash on Laurel Avenue at 3:45 p.m. Dec. 19. One party left an accident without reporting it.
- A group of youths was warned and admonished by police for throwing snow in Municipal Lot #1 on Dec. 19.
- Police responded to Soper Avenue Park for a report of a female teenager screaming with no shoes on. A group of three girls was seen walking away from the park. When police asked what they were doing, they said they were playing in the snow and heading home. The incident happened at 11:30 p.m. Dec. 19.
- A man yelled at some people at a barber shop on Main Street for not wearing masks, according to a patron, police said. The incident happened Dec. 20.
