Northport Police Blotter: 2 Reckless Drivers Issued Summons
ALSO: A woman kept receiving unwanted calls from a man after she told him she wanted him out of her Airbnb, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Feb. 1 through Feb. 7.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A bat got inside a Bayview Avenue home. The bat was removed by police and safely relocated on Feb. 3.
- Someone was dumping snow on a neighbor's property on Fort Salonga Road on Feb. 3. The person who called police told an officer that his neighbor dumped snow on his property, which made it a hazard to pull in and out of the driveway. The man wanted the report documented for informational purposes.
- A man was making unwanted phone calls to a woman on Feb. 3. An officer spoke with the woman, who said after she told the man she no longer wanted him staying at her Airbnb, he continually called her, gradually becoming more irate. Police got in touch with the man and told him the woman didn't want any more phone calls. The man agreed to stop calling her.
- A black Firebird and a white Ford pickup were driving recklessly on Main Street at 8:45 p.m. Feb. 5. Police found the vehicles at the intersection of Main Street and Laurel Avenue. Both drivers were pulled over and issued a summons.
- A man was approaching vehicles on Woodbine Avenue past 11 p.m. Feb. 5. Police found the man and told him to leave, which he did.
- A man told police on Feb. 6 that a person or people were trying to claim unemployment under his name. The man said he received paperwork on Jan. 26 indicating he applied for unemployment when he had not. He advised New York state on Jan. 27, adding that the state said it would handle the situation. The man was told he should check his credit for unusual activity, which he said he already did.
- Police responded to Municipal Lot #3 on Woodbine Avenue at 10 p.m. Feb. 7 for a report of a Jeep running for hours. The 2019 Jeep was unoccupied. The Jeep's owner was notified and returned to their car.
