Northport Police Blotter: Drunken Driver Charged With DWI

ALSO: A man who said he was in a car crash one night was brought to an inn by police.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Nov. 23 through Nov. 29.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Juan Sinclair, 31, of East Northport, was driving a white 2012 Ford F-150 eastbound on Fort Salonga Road with dark-colored window tints at 9:24 p.m. Nov. 25, police said. The officer who interviewed Sinclair smelled alcohol on his breath, saw his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and heard slurred speech, police said. Sinclair performed poorly on several field sobriety tests, police said. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, operate motor vehicle by unlicensed driver, equipment: tinted windows and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Incidents

  • Police responded to Fort Salonga Road for a report of two men possibly overdosing on Nov. 23. Both men told police they ate cannabis edible worms and were feeling sick. They were brought to Huntington Hospital.
  • A group was fighting at Napper Tandy's on Nov. 25, and police were called to quell it. Someone suffered a head injury during the fight, and they were brought to Huntington Hospital.
  • Police responded to Main Street for a report of a woman talking loud while her apartment windows were open. She agreed to keep it down.
  • Police saw a man looking into the windows of several small businesses on Fort Salonga Road at around 10:30 p.m. Nov. 26. The man said he was in a crash in East Northport several hours earlier and had to wait until the morning for a mechanic to look at his vehicle. He said he doesn't have any family in the area that could pick him up and wanted to spend the night at a motel. He seemed to be in good physical and mental health. Police brought the man to an inn and ensured he had a room for the night.
  • A sick raccoon was reported on Mar-Kan Drive on Nov. 27. It was euthanized and disposed of by police.
  • A drunken man was reported to be in the road on Main Street at 12:25 a.m. Nov. 27. The man told police he wanted to leave the area. Police remained until a taxi brought the man home.
  • A dead deer was found in the road on Crinkle Court on Nov. 27. An officer found the deer and moved it to the side of the road.
  • Someone reported finding a black wallet on a Village Park bench at around 3:50 p.m. Nov. 28. There was no identification in the wallet, which is sitting at Northport police headquarters.
  • Someone found a wallet on Bluff Point Road that held $12, 13 ripped-in-half $1 bills, and numerous debit/credit cards at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 29. The wallet was retrieved by its owner.
