Northport Police Blotter: Drunken Man Banned From Bar
The man was reportedly asked to leave the bar multiple times before he was escorted out, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from April 5 through April 11.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A group of kids was knocking on the door and then running away from a Maple Avenue home on April 5. The homeowner said it has been an ongoing issue. Police could not find the kids after searching the area.
- Police responded to Earl Avenue on April 6 for an argument between a landlord and tenant.
- The Northport Fire Department doused a fire at Hickory Place on April 7 after food was left on the stove.
- A woman on April 8 reported she received a letter from the Department of Motor Vehicles regarding a false Geico auto insurance policy filed under her husband's name. The woman said she received the letter on March 16, and that, at the time of her report, had not suffered any financial loss. No unauthorized accounts were opened in her name, either. Police suggested the woman contact her banks and credit cards to have her account numbers changed. She was also advised to freeze her credit.
- A group of kids was riding bicycles in the gazebo of Village Park on April 8. They were no longer riding in the gazebo by the time police arrived. Police told the kids to stay out of the gazebo and follow the park's posted rules.
- A drunken man was reportedly causing a disturbance in Municipal Lot #1 of Constitution Square on April 8. The drunken man told police he was in the back parking lot of Gunther's Tap Room and was confronted and pushed to the ground, possibly by one of the owners, police said. The man could not name the owner. The man asked for an ambulance due to rib pain and did not want to pursue charges. Police continued investigating, and the bar owner told police that the highly drunken man was asked to leave the bar multiple times, and that he was eventually escorted out of the business. The owner said this has been an ongoing issue with the man. A trespass affidavit was completed, and the man was told he was banned from Gunther's.
- A man was reportedly yelling at a woman over walking her dog on Reservoir Avenue on April 10. The woman told police that when she was walking her dog in the area, the man yelled at her stating that she's on private property. The woman told police that she has the right to the right of way. Police spoke with the man, who said he owns the property and only certain households have access to the right of way. Both parties were advised to get an official letter from the village that states who owns the property and has access to the right of way. Both parties agreed.
- A woman on April 10 reported an identity theft. She said a Progressive insurance policy was opened in her name for a vehicle she doesn't own. She told police she never opened a policy for a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup and is trying to have it closed. The woman did not suffer any monetary loss at the time of her report.
- A woman reported a potential identity fraud on April 11. She said her employer received a New York state unemployment benefit claim in the mail even though she did not apply for one. She had not suffered any financial loss at the time of her report.
